«The best thriller writer alive.» Mr. Atlee, an old and very sick man, lives alone in the family home in Clanton, Mississippi. He had been a feared and appreciated judge who had been above the law and local politics for forty years. Now he has almost become a recluse. Seeing his end approaching, Judge Atlee sends for his son Ray, a law professor at the University of Virginia, to arrange the details of the inheritance. His son reluctantly heads south, but the family reunion does not take place. The judge dies too soon. And with that, he leaves behind a surprising secret that only Ray comes to know. And perhaps someone else. Reviews: |
