In Search of Lost Time is one of the pinnacles of universal literature, and this case brings together the seven parts that make up this inexhaustible roman-fleuve. Throughout its more than three thousand pages, we meet unforgettable characters such as the mysterious Odette, the jealous Charles Swann, the band of young girls in bloom at the Balbec resort, the wicked Baron de Charlus, and the almost divine Duchess de Guermantes, among many others. Amidst them all moves the narrator, a man who delves into the paths of memory to revive the vanished world of the belle époque, but who ultimately describes a multiplicity of psychologies, situations, and impulses that seem to contain all of humanity.

Our edition offers one of the best and most recent translations of the work, carried out by Carlos Manzano throughout the 2000s.

Marcel Proust (1871-1922) nació en París en el seno de una familia adinerada y abandonó pronto sus estudios de Derecho para relacionarse con la sociedad elegante de París y dedicarse a escribir. Tras publicar Los placeres y los días (1896) y escribir los cuentos recogidos en El misterioso remitente y otros relatos inéditos (Lumen, 2021) y la novela inacabada Jean Santeuil (que no apareció hasta 1952), Proust, aquejado de asma desde la infancia y convertido en un enfermo crónico, pasó el resto de su vida recluido, sin salir prácticamente nunca de la habitación revestida de corcho donde escribió su obra maestra: En busca del tiempo perdido (Por la parte de Swann, 1913; A la sombra de las muchachas en flor, 1919; La parte de Guermantes, 1920-1921; Sodoma y Gomorra, 1920-1921; La prisionera,1923; Albertine desaparecida, 1925, y El tiempo recobrado, 1927). Se trata del largo monólogo interior de un hombre ocioso que se mueve en la alta sociedad, y, en muchos aspectos, de una obra autobiográfica. En el centenario de su muerte, salen a la luz los textos escritos entre 1907 y 1908 que darían lugar más adelante a En busca del tiempo perdido y que han sido bautizados por la crítica y los expertos como «el grial proustiano»: Los setenta y cinco folios y otros manuscritos inéditos (Lumen, 2022).
