Flores sobre el infierno

After Dicker, D'Andrea and Lemaitre, Alfaguara Negra presents the debut of the year: Flores sobre el infierno by Ilaria Tuti, the thriller with a woman's name.

The first corpse is that of a naked man, with his face disfigured and his eyes gouged out. Something terrifying is happening in the mountains: a newborn has disappeared and a mysterious shadow roams the woods. The case requires all the skills of Teresa Battaglia, a police commissioner specialized in criminal profiling who, every day, walks on hell. Her best weapon is her mind, but lately it is deceiving her; her lucidity is at risk and, therefore, so is the investigation. For the first time in her life, she is afraid.

Teresa and young inspector Massimo Marini, recently arrived from the city to this mountainous enclave, must carry out the most difficult investigation they have ever faced: a case rooted in the darkest and most shocking episodes of the history of this millennial corner of northern Italy: a hell that still pulses.

Reviews:
«Italy finally has its queen of thriller
Sandrone Dazieri

«A thriller that penetrates the folds of the human soul. An author to follow closely.»
Marta Cervino, Marie Claire

«With a complex intrigue, the novel slides like a sled down a slalom of snow at full speed. And it doesn't derail. [...] Tuti achieves a work of intrigue of morbid poetic beauty: the charm of evil.»
Lluís Fernández, La Razón

«From the first lines, the landscape and atmospheric conditions become a central character in the plot: the cold, the fog, the forests... Far from the traditional colorful and Mediterranean image that Italian crime fiction exports to the world.»
Álvaro Soto, La Verdad

«Ilaria Tuti surprises with a fresh style, unusual in an overexploited genre. [...] The story is slow-cooked.»
Juan Luis Sánchez, Crítica de Libros

«One of the revelations of the year.»
Ida Bozzi, Il Corriere della Sera

«A female noir bet that is already an editorial phenomenon.»
Claudia Morgoglione, La Repubblica

«An addictive thriller until the end.»
Arianna Boria, Il Piccolo

«Masterfully constructed with a perfect plot.»
Fabrizio d'Esposito, Il Fatto Quotidiano

«Teresa Battaglia is an atypical detective: ugly, grumpy, diabetic: irresistible.»
Gianluca Ferraris, Donna Moderna

«A novel with all the most classic and exciting elements of the thriller genre: children, snow, unconfessable guilt, double and inscrutable lives.»
L'Espresso

«A high-level thriller. Once again, the paths of Italian noir seem endless.»
Sergio Pent, La Stampa

«Her detective Battaglia has everything we love in a character: charisma, determination and instinct, but also flaws and weaknesses. Unlike many current female characters in crime fiction, she is accepted as she is: a complex person who is not just "a woman in a man's world." And we love that.»
Glenn Tavennec, editor of La Bête Noire

«Don't trust her sweet smile: Ilaria Tuti drags you into an extremely dark world.»
Jean-Marie Wynants, Le Soir

«A thriller that convinces and leaves you stunned.»
