The Secret of Xein (Guardians of the Citadel 2) 0

Axlin works at the library and continues to gather information to complete her bestiary while investigating an unusual presence of monsters within the Citadel walls. Additionally, in attempting to help her friend Dex with a personal problem, she becomes embroiled in a conflict involving several aristocratic families from the old city.

Xein, for his part, has become one of the Guardians who protect the inhabitants of the Citadel from the monsters that stalk them. His loyalty to the Guard forces him to keep his new knowledge hidden from everyone else, especially from Axlin, which erects another wall between the two.

All of this will cause confrontations between them each time they meet again, but it will also spark embers that will burn more intensely because of their shared past.

Finis Mundi, la primera novela que publicó, obtuvo el Premio El Barco de Vapor, galardón que volvería a ganar tres años más tarde con La leyenda del Rey Errante. Además de algunos cuentos infantiles, Laura Gallego ha firmado hasta el momento treinta novelas, entre las que destacan Crónicas de la Torre, Donde los árboles cantan, distinguida con el Premio Nacional de Literatura Infantil y Juvenil, Todas las hadas del Reino, Omnia, sus aclamadas trilogías Memorias de Idhún y Guardianes de la Ciudadela y El ciclo del eterno emperador, su última novela. En 2011, Laura Gallego recibió el Premio Cervantes Chico por el conjunto de su obra.
