El Anfitrión

What if you had to fight for a body to live in?

Our world has been invaded by a species capable of taking over the minds of their human hosts, leaving the bodies intact. Wanderer, the invading "soul" who has received Melanie's body, knew the challenges of inhabiting an organism of that race, the overwhelming emotions and too-vivid memories. But an unexpected obstacle arises: the body's former owner refuses to relinquish control of her mind.

Melanie fills Wanderer's thoughts with images of her beloved, Jared, a man who has managed to avoid the incursion and lives freely underground. Wanderer begins to yearn for someone she has never met. Reluctantly, Melanie and Wanderer become allies and set off in search of the human they are both in love with.

The Host offers one of the most original love triangles in literature. It is an unforgettable and fascinating novel about the persistence of love and the essence of what it means to be human.
