A Deep Reflection on Compassion.

"Compassion" is a term that has been used to describe a wide range of human behaviors and attitudes, from mercy to pity and charity.

In this book, Osho examines the nature of compassion from a radically different perspective. He points out that "passion" lies at the root of the word, and proceeds to examine assumptions about the true meaning of that term. Many supposed acts of compassion, he says, are tainted by a subtle feeling of self-importance or a desire for recognition. Others are based not on the desire to help others but on the desire to force them to change.

Using stories from the lives of Jesus, Buddha, and the world of Zen, Osho shows how the path to authentic compassion arises from within us, starting with a deep acceptance and love for oneself. Only then, Osho says, can compassion flourish and become a healing force, rooted in the unconditional acceptance of the other as they are.
