Things no one knows

A heartwarming novel about the transition from childhood to youth, starring a dreamy fourteen-year-old girl, a handsome young man, and her fascinating teacher.

Margherita is fourteen and is about to embark on an experience as magical as it is feared: high school. In the fascinating and threatening hallways of the institute, friendships are forged and glances that awaken new feelings are exchanged. But within the four walls of her room, Margherita experiences the vertigo of the unknown and only the warmth of her endearing grandmother, her little brother, and her beloved parents offer her the protection and courage she needs to face an uncertain future. Until one day she receives a message from her father announcing that he is leaving home.

The abyss opens and Margherita feels herself falling into the void. She still doesn't know that maturity is conquered through pain, just as the pearl is born in the oyster by defending itself from the attack of a predator. Not even the wise advice or Sicilian proverbs of her grandmother, her faithful confidante, will now be enough to lift her out of her sadness.

Suddenly, her new friendship with Marta, a very enthusiastic girl, will acquire unexpected value, as will the lessons from her language teacher, a man who, although also facing his own doubts and fears, will manage to awaken new passions and dreams in Margherita.

But it will be her bond with Giulio, a fourth-year student with icy eyes and jet-black hair who will become her first and great love, that will make Margherita react and finally push her to search for her father.

A suggestive and sensitive story that invites us to experience the intensity of true love and the beauty of the purest dreams.

Reviews:
«The writer who has become a guru for young people.»
Oggi

«D'Avenia has achieved in a heartbeat: passionate and demanding readers, the loving and unconditional identification of many young people who identify him as their teacher.»
Avvenire

«D'Avenia addresses high school and university students, but he has the potential to captivate the interest of his readers' parents. Who doesn't want to know the universe of their own children?»
