Dune will always be considered the great triumph of imagination that made Frank Herbert one of the great visionaries of universal literature. Today this great classic is once again relevant because it will soon inspire a film and a television series directed by Denis Villeneuve, the director of Arrival and Blade Runner 2049. It is time, then, to reclaim a mythical book in audiobook format.
The story begins thousands of years in the future, in a great galactic empire divided into quasi-feuds controlled by noble families. The key to controlling the Empire lies on Arrakis, a desert planet also known as Dune. The protagonist of the story is young Paul Atreides, heir to the dukedom of House Atreides. His father, Leto Atreides, suddenly receives the order to move to Arrakis, and Paul must confront, on the one hand, the emperor and, on the other, his old enemies, House Harkonnen.
Dune, an admirable blend of adventure, mysticism, and politics, won the first Nebula Award (1965), the Hugo Award (1966), and cemented one of the greatest sagas in science fiction.

Frank Patrick Herbert nació en Tacoma, Washington (1920). Antes de comenzar a escribir ciencia ficción, tuvo varias profesiones, desde fotógrafo y cámara de televisión hasta pescador de ostras. En 1965 presenta la serie de libros Las crónicas de Dune, con gran éxito de la crítica y del público, donde describe un mundo imaginario con su propia política, ecología y estructura social. La primera obra de la saga, Dune, supuso un auténtico fenómeno literario y obtuvo los premios Nébula y Hugo, además del Premio Internacional de Fantasía, que compartió con El señor de las moscas de William Golding. Falleció el 11 de febrero de 1986. El resto de entregas de la saga son: El mesías de Dune, Hijos de Dune, Dios emperador de Dune, Herejes de Dune y Casa Capitular: Dune.
