The Sign of the Four
"The Sign of the Four" is the second novel featuring Sherlock Holmes and his companion, Dr. Watson. The novel recounts the mysterious disappearance of a great treasure from exotic lands and the inexplicable deaths left in the wake of those responsible for the theft. It falls to the famous detective duo to recover the treasure and bring the culprits to justice, thanks to Holmes' almost infallible powers of observation, and Watson's help and bravery. Several characters who would be immortalized in the detective's future adventures also make their debut. It was published in 1890 by the English writer Arthur Conan Doyle (1859-1930) and continued the growth of fame and acclaim for his most celebrated creation, Sherlock Holmes.
