The value of choice

To ask about freedom is to ask about the reason and heart of our life. To recognize the value of being, feeling, and living free is to recognize oneself as human and, therefore, to accept the happy and unavoidable commitment of continuous effort. A lifelong task. This is the theme of this book. To begin, naively, it can be posed like this: What does freedom consist of? Does freedom really exist? Is it something I have before I know it, something I only acquire when I know I have it, or something that, to have it, I must give up knowing precisely what it is? Am I capable of freedom, or am I freedom and therefore capable of being human? And so many, many, too many questions. The first part attempts an anthropology based on freedom, that is, considering freedom as the specific difference of the human species. Questions about choice, the voluntary and involuntary, intention, or chance will help to understand what it is. The second part offers something like "freedom exercises." It is an invitation to continue thinking and rethinking. An anthropology based on freedom.
