The Gladiator (Spartacus 1)

The legend of Spartacus has endured through the centuries. It is the story of a man who confronted mighty Rome and came close to defeating it.
74 BC. With winter's imminent arrival, few dare to embark on a journey, but one man covers the last and exhausting stretch that will take him home. Vast regions of his homeland, Thrace, located north of Greece, have fallen into the hands of the hated Romans. This Thracian has fought in the Roman legions for almost a decade. Skillful and hardened in battle, he is a born fighter named Spartacus.
But his home is no longer the safe place he imagines. A new king occupies the throne. Treacherous and cunning, he has seized power through assassination and clings to it with violent methods. When a Roman slave trader appears in the village looking for men to fight as gladiators, Spartacus is betrayed and sold. Thus begins his great odyssey.
