Ficciones is arguably Jorge Luis Borges' most renowned work and a milestone in the history of literature. Here you find the detective story («Death and the Compass») and the fantastic («The Lottery in Babylon»), the unreal («The Circular Ruins») and the imaginary («Tlön, Uqbar, Orbis Tertius»), what Borges perhaps considered his best story («The South») and one of the most captivating opening lines of a story ever written («Nobody saw him disembark in the unanimous night»).
