DETALLES

Fin de guardia (Trilogía Bill Hodges 3)

End of Watch is the spectacular finale to the "Bill Hodges Trilogy" that began with Mr. Mercedes and continued with Finders Keepers.

Some killers use knives,
others guns or even cars,
but all of them have one goal in mind:
to drive you crazy.

Retired detective Hodges, who runs a private investigation agency with Holly, is diagnosed with pancreatic cancer: he has months to live. At that moment, Hodges investigates a series of recent suicides with one thing in common: all the deceased were connected to Brady Hartsfield, the infamous Mr. Mercedes, who years ago planned to blow up a rock concert hall full of teenagers.

Hodges and Holly left the killer in a vegetative state from which he has not recovered. However, the hospital doctor has been supplying Brady with experimental drugs that have caused him to acquire new powers, including the ability to move small objects with his mind and to enter the bodies of certain people vulnerable to his control. From his bed, Brady has devised a Zappit video game app. As soon as he has the user under control, he uses the app to dominate their mind and drag them to suicide. His targets are the same teenagers who escaped death, but he actually wants to lure Hodges into the game and get revenge. He doesn't know he's about to die.

Reviews:
«The narrator doesn't get ahead of us, but rather moves with us, at the same time and in the heat of the moment, getting excited with the reader and, also with them, shuddering with fear.»
Abc

«The Bill Hodges trilogy is a great narrative work that is among the best of contemporary fiction. (...) And End of Watch is a great ending to this great trilogy.»
Juan Carlos Galindo, El País

«The plot matters, but so do the destinies of good characters [...]. It distills wisdom about how easy it is to go from this side to the dark side. And meanwhile, the damn thing entertains us.»
Lilian Newman, La Vanguardia, Suplemento Culturas

«A story that can be read individually and that literature lovers will enjoy.»
La Semana

On the blogs...
«Stephen King successfully culminates this peculiar trilogy, with his usual narrative style of a genius for constructing interesting plots and knowing how to tell them so that the reader is fully immersed in the story and has a great time reading.»
Blog Me gustan los libros

«Stephen King brings back some of his most emblematic characters and puts them back to work in a less dark but much more faithful story to his original style, with some supernatural elements and a threat looming over the entire population...»
Blog El cuervo de las alas rotas

«High-tech, "old-school" intrigue, between a pair of men who deep down share many of the things that happen to them.»
Blog Las estrellas

«Very dynamic, with a nimble rhythm that will drag us along even if we resist. Of course, one of the books in which Stephen King has best captured the sense of urgency and tension.»
Blog Revista Krítica

«An adventure that comes to an interesting end, a crime novel that goes beyond the simple investigation of a murder as it mixes supernatural elements that manage to make your hair stand on end.»
Blog Atrapada en unas hojas de papel

«Stephen King shines again and shows that sometimes terror is not in the situation, but in your way of facing it.»
