DETALLES

the German house

Eva Bruhns' life revolves around The German House, the traditional restaurant run by her parents, where they share the small details of their daily lives: from the ins and outs of her job at a translation agency to her longing for her boyfriend to finally ask her father for her hand in marriage.
But in 1963, the first Auschwitz trial is going to be held in Frankfurt, and fate leads Eva to collaborate with the prosecution as an interpreter, despite her family's complete opposition. As she translates the testimonies of the survivors, she discovers the immensity and horror of what happened in the concentration camps and a part of recent history that no one has ever told her about.
Why does everyone insist on leaving it behind? Why are there missing photographs in the family album? Is it possible to live the same way when the truth is glimpsed?
