Loco afán. Crónicas de sidario

Nothing in his texts is left to chance; everything is thoroughly thought out and every letter is conscious, because he believed a better world was possible and he also believed in literature for that change, as the rage against injustices escaped through his skin. He left private and public marks and, against all those who didn't believe, he forever marked the literary history of our country.
This volume gathers the first short stories that Pedro Lemebel —then Pedro Mardones— published in 1986 through illustrated triptychs and in an edition of three hundred copies on kraft paper. In these initial narrative works —endowed with great lyricism, an interesting formal proposal, and a subtle yet fierce desire to denounce— lies the germ of what would be his later literary production: his characteristic and endearing characters on the margins already appear here, the tenderness and violence that abound in his chronicles, and that political dimension that defined him as a creator committed like few others.
Pedro Mardones wrote poems, short stories, novels, and micro-stories; he drew, created images to be burned in public squares, put his body and his life on the street and in his words; he shouted, he was silent, he wreaked havoc, and he created beauty. […] Coming from the margins, he was never on the margin but at the very center of discontent. He knew poverty and was terrified of it.
