Luces de bohemia. Farsas y esperpentos (Obras completas Valle-Inclán 4)
The second volume with the theatrical production of one of the most outstanding authors of contemporary Spain: Ramón María del Valle-Inclán. In his incessant exploration of a new theatricality, Valle-Inclán very soon undertakes a radical process of dramatic stylization that cultivates the grotesque, farce, metatheater and the dehumanization of characters. Titles such as Tablado de marionetas (1926), Retablo de la avaricia, la lujuria y la muerte (1927) and Martes de Carnaval (1930), in which he compiles his production of two decades, are expressive of a trend that culminates in the formulation of a new and prodigious aesthetic, the esperpento, whose premises he exposes in what is considered by many to be his masterpiece: Luces de bohemia (1924).
