Ingrid gave up her career as a journalist when her husband was appointed director of an important newspaper. He has always been unfaithful to her. Victoria fled a dark past in her native Russia. Her marriage began as a refuge, but it has become a nightmare. Birgitta is about to retire as a teacher and will have to fight a terrible illness, but first she must face something worse: the cold gaze of her partner.
