A Boy's Dream Can Change the World. A wonderful picture book by Elizabeth Zunon about the inspiring true story of William Kamkwamba, the African boy who became a hero of our time. When a terrible drought struck the small village where William Kamkwamba lived, his family lost all their crops and had nothing to eat or sell. William then began to research science books in the library looking for a solution, and in this way he found the idea that would change his family's life forever: he would build a windmill. Made from recycled materials, metal, and bicycle parts, William's windmill brought electricity to his home and helped his family get the water they needed for their crops. Thus, little Willy's determination and enthusiasm changed the destiny of his family and the entire country. |
