What Is Metaphysics?: Followed by "Epilogue to 'What Is Metaphysics?'" and "Introduction to 'What Is Metaphysics?'" (The Pocket Book - Philosophy)
This volume brings together three texts by Martin Heidegger (1889-1976) whose common theme is the "question of metaphysics," a cardinal concern that runs through the work of the German philosopher and without which it is doubtful that his philosophy would hold together. Arranged according to chronological criteria (as Arturo Leyte and Helena Cortés, translators of the volume, explain in their "Editorial Note"), "What is Metaphysics?" (1929) is followed by an Epilogue to "What is Metaphysics?", written fourteen years later (1943), and, finally, an Introduction to "What is Metaphysics?" (1949). Beyond the anecdotal thematic coincidence of their titles, these three texts, which maintain a remarkable independence from each other although gravitating around a common axis, reflect on the surface the depth of a personal philosophical journey. |
