In 1847, two British Navy ships, HMS Erebus and HMS Terror, sailing under the command of Sir John Franklin, are trapped in the Arctic ice. In their long-sought search for the Northwest Passage, they seem to have failed. Unable to do anything to continue their journey and complete their expedition, surrounded by the polar cold and imminent dangers, they can only wait for the thaw to arrive to allow them to escape. Little by little, the days go by and the survival conditions become more extreme; temperatures exceeding fifty degrees below zero, scarce food provisions, the deterioration of the ships or the arrival of diseases are eroding the crew's hope. As if that weren't enough, the strange presence of a bestial and mysterious creature makes the men believe that they are facing not only the most adverse natural conditions, but also supernatural forces that, at times, surpass their beliefs and their reason.
