DETALLES

A Russian passion

It will go on sale on August 27.
A Russian passion novel with ambition and grit, the impressive life trajectory of a woman as fascinating as she is unknown: the Spanish singer Lina Codina (Madrid, 1897–London, 1989), who was the muse and wife of the brilliant Russian composer Sergei Prokofiev. Their first years of marriage were spent in avant-garde Paris, where the couple was part of the most exclusive circle of intellectuals and artists. Everything changed, however, as a result of Prokofiev's decision to return to the Soviet Union. Although they were received with the highest honors, over time they began to suffer the insidiousness of the Stalinist regime and the deterioration of their relationship. At the end of World War II, Lina was falsely accused and, without anyone being able to do anything to save her, was sent to the gulag, where she remained until Stalin's death. In short, from the sublime to hell itself, Lina's was a novelistic life, marked by love, tragedy, and the capacity for resilience
