The already unstoppable environmental awareness and the new needs of today's society have generated the need to promote a new type of urban landscape that advocates reintroducing nature in inhabited areas, prioritizing pedestrians over cars, and creating ample and diverse spaces for social interaction and activity that improve the quality of life of citizens. The projects presented in this book illustrate an inexorable process of transformation of the landscape of cities all over the planet, in which pedestrians become the true protagonists of new public spaces that aspire to become models of social and environmental sustainability and that represent essential escape routes for their inhabitants.
