La tempestad del segador is the seventh volume in the «Malaz: The Book of the Fallen» saga, the decology that has made Canadian writer Steven Erikson one of the greatest voices in contemporary epic fantasy.

In the Letherii Empire, confusion reigns. While Emperor Rhulad Sengar, surrounded by flatterers and commissioners of his Machiavellian chancellor, plunges into madness, Letherii secret agents carry out a campaign of terror against their own people. The Wanderer, once a clairvoyant god, now seems unable to see the future. Conspiracies run through the palace, and the empire, managed by corrupt and self-interested individuals, is on the brink of an unprecedented war with neighboring kingdoms.

Meanwhile, the Edur fleet is getting closer. Among its warriors are Karsa Orlong and Icarium Lifestealer, whose mere presence means blood will be shed. But a small band of fugitives is determined to escape the empire and save the emperor. A reckoning is approaching, and its magnitude will be unimaginable.
