Vee is a girl who doesn't stand out much, so when she is chosen to compete in NERVE, an anonymous game of challenges broadcast online, she decides to try her luck. She soon discovers that the game knows things about her: it tempts her with the prizes she most desires and pairs her with Ian, her ideal guy.

At first everything is great: Vee's and Ian's fans cheer them on as they overcome increasingly risky challenges. But the game takes an unexpected turn when they are sent to a secret location with five more players. They suddenly discover that they are playing for all or nothing and betting their own lives at every moment.
