DETALLES

Spring with a broken corner

A human vision of exile and dictatorship in which, curiously, we never lose hope.

Broken Spring is a direct and painful testimony that deals with a divided society, fractured by repression and authoritarianism, and attempts to be a bridge between two regions -Uruguay under dictatorship and Uruguay in exile- that constitute a single and lacerated country.

Beyond political events, the novel focuses on the profound commotion they cause in the human relationships of the individuals who suffer them.

As in the rest of his work, Mario Benedetti combines tenderness, denunciation, passion, love, and History here to transmit to the reader a message of hope: spring, though mutilated, will finally relieve a winter that seemed endless.
