Dear Dad
Dear Dad is a tender novel about sacrifice and devotion, but also about the struggle to recover lost happiness. The world around Oliver Watson seems to dissolve when Sarah, his wife of eighteen years, returns to Harvard to graduate. Oliver is left to his own devices, with three children and a freedom he never wanted. When Oliver's mother dies, his father has also changed: bolder than his son and with less time to live, George Watson, at seventy-two, will soon find love again and, eventually, a new marriage. Ben, Oliver's eldest son, rejects his father, determined to forge his own education. Melissa, the middle daughter, blames Oliver for her mother's departure. And Sam, the youngest, is too affected to bear it. From now on, Dad will have to deal with new responsibilities, new women, new experiences. Nothing is as it was before, nothing is as they once thought it would be. But ultimately different is better, different is more, for each of them... And especially for dear Dad. Review: |
