The Portrait of Rose Madder

It was as if the painting had called to her, forcing her to stop. And when she read the inscription on the back, "Rose Madder," she knew it had to be hers, the perfect adornment for her newly established home as a free woman.

After years of abuse, Rosie Daniels had finally left her husband and started a new life in another city.

But it is very difficult not to leave clues, and Norman, the brutal policeman she had married, begins a systematic and relentless hunt for his wife. He is getting closer and closer, and Rosie realizes, not without fear, that her only ally is that figure painted in the picture, inviting her to cross over to her side of reality.

"This book got me hooked in a bad way... I rarely take a book everywhere, to take advantage of any moment I can snatch to read, including when I go shopping with the book in one hand and the cart in the other or the subsequent queues at the checkout... But I was unable to close the book and remain without knowing how it continued. [...] a mixture of psychological thriller and gothic fantasy that has fascinated me from beginning to end. For my part, highly recommended."

"A novel full of mystery and suspense from beginning to end, [...]. The pace of the plot is very fast to maintain suspense, [...]. The characters are wonderful: perfectly well delineated and constructed, and with a tremendous psyche that supports their actions and thoughts. In addition, readers of other King books will find various references to other novels of the genre."
