Lecter's astonishing knowledge of human behavior and his powerful personality immediately captivate Clarice, who, unable to control herself, establishes an ambiguous, unsettling, and dangerous relationship with him.

The Silence of the Lambs was adapted into a film in 1991, and won Academy Awards for Best Picture, Best Director (Jonathan Demme), Best Actress (Jodie Foster), Best Actor (Anthony Hopkins), and Best Adapted Screenplay.
