When she found out that her struggles had a name, she dove into the studies of the human mind and brain, trying to understand what was going on with her. Realizing that she was not alone, despite having felt so lonely in her mind, for so long, she vowed to raise awareness on mental health. However, anxiety and panic kept putting a halt to her dreams and goals. Frustrated and disappointed, she started seeing herself as a failure, eventually convincing herself that she was a burden and nothing would ever change. She had studied, she had helped others, but she couldn’t help herself. At the end of the line and with nothing to lose, she phoned a colleague to start her own therapy. “From the sofa to the chair” is a raw account of Karen’s journey with mental health. |
